Most intrusive software ever

I have been using Bitdefender for about 5 years and I used to love it. I used this version then upgraded it to the Total version because of an offer from them. The main reason I used to love it was that it was completely non-intrusive; it just caught potential threats and did what it needed to fix them, completely in the background without flashing all kinds of messages on the screen to distract me.
Not so anymore, at this point Bitdefender is by far the most intrusive software I have ever used. I use my computer a lot with full-screen apps like spreadsheets and graphic tools. Can you imagine how annoying it is to have huge ads and other popups covering the lower corner of my screen over and over and over? And there's no way to turn them off, which is a major hindrance to my productivity. This year's version (2014) now brazenly opens popup windows in the center of the screen as well as in the corner, sometimes at the same time.
On top of that they spam my email box with endless offers. They started "warning" me that my subscription was going to expire a full six months before it did. I immediately bought a renewal six months early but did that stop them? No, every single day I got emails warning me, in a tone that was equivalent to impending Armageddon. I contacted them several times and asked them to stop but they ignored me.
On the subject of contacting them, there is in fact no contact information for them anywhere. No names, no addresses of U.S. offices. Apparently they have no support presence at all in the United States. The only way to contact them is through a help ticket, but what good does that do if they ignore you.
The product itself seems to work, but then again every antivirus program works and essentially looks for the same threats and deals with them the same way so there is no overwhelming reason to use Bitdefender as opposed to any other brand except for cost and support. When it's not on sale, the cost is equivalent to everyone else so that eliminates that as a reason and they really don't provide any support so honestly I see no reason to recommend this product unless you are lonely and like to be barraged with popup ads covering your computer screen.
0 stars for the most intrusive software out there and for Bitdefender lying about it in their ads by actually stating that it is "non-intrusive".

Impressive and robust

So far, very impressive, go slowly when installing it on a 64bit OS, make sure it knows its 64bit on install, I missed it the first time through and had to re-install.

used to be the best but no more,...daily popup spam now that they cannot and will not put a stop to.

i have used bitdefender for years at home and at my business because it was a genuinely good piece of software but no more. with the new year they chose to reward their customers with software that constantly barrages your pc with their popup ads. i have paid hundreds of dollars over the years and in turn i spend more money on the product and get spam, spam and more spam. fyi their customer service reps are horrible. after two days of attempting contact someone, anyone finally got a person by phone(fyi forget about their tech forum their reps ignore you) was told they could not do anything about the popup ads on their new software but would "request" my email that i be removed from the "list." problem is that is as far as the process goes and the popups well they just keep on coming, popping up. i hate to switch but if i am going to pay good money for an a/v suite i deserve to be popup free.
